Magic, Myths and Miracles Exhibition

Welcome to our exhibition, Magic, Myths and Miracles. We hope you enjoy exploring this vibrant celebration of creativity, imagination, and community.

In 2024, we were proud to receive a grant from the National Lottery Community Fund to support a year-long programme of creative activity with adults across the borough facing various vulnerabilities. This programme was structured into three distinct 10-week projects, each inspired by the themes of Magic, Myths, and Miracles.

Magic – Spring/Summer 2024

We began by exploring the magic of the creative process—focusing on the joy of experimentation rather than the final product. Participants worked with unpredictable materials and techniques, embracing the unknown and finding beauty in the unexpected.

Myths - Autumn/Winter 2024

In the autumn, we delved into the human condition and mythology—drawing from global traditions and creating our own mythological worlds. The final pieces from this phase are displayed in the see-through boxes near the entrance. You are welcome to open the boxes and look inside, but please be careful not to disturb the artworks.

Miracles - Winter 2024 /Sprint 2025

This year, we celebrated everyday miracles—acts of creation and creativity in all their forms. We were honoured to be joined by eight professional artists who each led a workshop, sharing their unique styles and techniques. Each week, we explored a different artist’s work, both local and international, inspiring a diverse and eclectic range of responses.

Throughout the exhibition, you’ll see a rich variety of materials, approaches, and stories—testament to the power of community, imagination, and art.

This exhibition is a testament to the power of community art.
It’s about process over perfectionstorytelling over structure, and the beauty found in creating together.

We hope you enjoy the experience as much as we enjoyed making it.

What a fantastic exhibition ! We were really moved by the drawings, poems and boxed universes! They showed the depth of complex emotions and experiences. – Exhibition Attendant
