Magical Mondays

Magical Mondays was a 10-week journey through various art styles, bringing participants together to explore creativity, experiment with new techniques, and craft unique and enchanting artworks each week.

Week 1 - Intro Session

Week 2 - Wax Resistance Technique

Week 3 - Magical Realism

Participants expressed their thoughts on magic using large combined paper, starting our creative journey with different mediums.

Using wax resistance techniques, participants created hidden designs with candles and pastels that revealed themselves under colorful inks.

Magical realism took center stage as participants combined real-world settings with imaginative concepts, working with a muted palette.

Week 4 - Print Making

Week 5 - Image Transfer

Week 6 - Exhibition visit

We learned cyanotype and leaf printing with Niamh Saint, creating nature-inspired images that developed magically in sunlight.

Experimenting with image transfer, participants layered old photos with acetate, paper, and pen to craft unique, colorful prints.

A visit to St Mary’s Church to view Nancy Willis’s exhibition inspired participants to explore her evolving styles and create their own work.

Week 7 - Magical Location

Week 8 - Creating to Music

Week 9 - Larger Final Pieces Begin

Participants discovered artistic methods to make places feel magical and began crafting their own.

Listening to music, participants translated its emotions into expressive drawings, capturing each mood on paper.

Participants began working on their larger final pieces, building on their previous work and exploring new techniques.

Week 10 - Larger Final Pieces Completed

The larger final pieces were completed, with everyone adding their finishing touches to their creative projects.
