Precious Places

Worthy

My Local Church

“It is a place I go to pray every Sunday, the local church. It gives me peace of mind, tranquillity and an opportunity to meditate. I feel very comfortable with the other parishioners. When lockdown is over we shall probably get together for some social occasions.”

Gorillas in the Mist

“My peaceful place is in Africa with gorillas. I used to watch “Gorillas in the mist” with my Nan who was like a mum to me. Visiting the setting where the film was shot brought back memories as if I was sitting with my Nan. I was so happy I cried. The colours represent how entwined my life has felt sometimes, the messy jungle vines coming out in all directions”

Knightsbridge

“It is in Knightsbridge. I love it because it is surrounded by churches and colleges. It makes me feel reassured and comfortable. I sat down on a bench and listened to the birds singing in a square with trees and grass. I saw two priests go by talking to each other as the church bells rang.”

Charity shops

“Charity shops are a magical place for me. I haven’t been able to go into one for so long now. I’m really looking forward to rummaging around again and seeing what treats I can find.  I quite often browse charity shops because with very little money you can find some really unusual gems. I’ve worked and volunteered in various charity shops and I really like that everyone is welcome and it doesn’t matter if you don’t have lots of money you can always find something interesting.”

Corfu

“I love going to the seaside no matter where it is.  Even when I am feeling down and stressed, if I am at the seaside it seems to take it all away. I can’t wait for this lockdown to be over so I can go to the seaside this year. I am looking forward to that.

Southend Seaside

“Two boys in Southend flying their kites. I love the seaside.”
