Trips and Visits
As part of our ongoing commitment to NBAM‘s participants we often visit places of significant cultural interest. Sometimes we are lucky enough to have a professional curator or organiser tell us more about what goes on behind the scenes and get to meet artists and ask about their work.
Many of our participants have additional physical needs and therefore we need to plan our trips appropriately to allow time for everyone to make it. We meet at central locations and try to travel in a buddy like way where possible. We ensure there are enough breaks for people to sit and rest and time for a chat, tea and cakes too.
The visits we book are always of interest as many participants would not go to these places alone for various reasons such as illness, social confidence or financial restraint. Plus sometimes it’s just nice to have someone else organise something for you to do where you know you’ll always be welcome regardless of what else is going on in your life at that time.
In the past few years, we have visited The Royal Academy, Leyden Gallery, The National Theatre, The Barbican, E17 Art Trail, IG11 Art Trail, Victoria and Albert Museum, William Morris Gallery, Lloyd Park, Walthamstow Wetlands, The Courtauld, Tate Modern, and Canary Wharf Winter Lights
